LUNDGREN GALLERY is proud to present the show DRAWINGS 2002 - 2006 by Steve Canaday. Steve Canaday (b. 1967, Lansing, MI, USA) grew up in Detroit but left the city many years ago but lived and worked for a long time in Los Angeles, Echo Park, but is back in Detroit since some years. He received a BFA from WSU and an MFA at UCLA but did his informal art training in the Cass Corridor, which became a neighbourhood incubator for painters, sculptors and musicians beginning in the late 1960s. Canaday left Detroit painting abstractions, and found his voice in realism on the west coast. His work included some forest and desert scenes, Los Angeles girlfriends, LA architecture bleached in the ocean reflection and remembrances of Detroit with his "factory paintings”. Canaday's work is in various museum collections including, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and FC MoCA Manchester in England.
