LUIS GISPERT
DECEPCION + ALL OYSTERS, NO PEARLS
21 SEPTEMBER - 20 OCTOBER 2012

Presentation of the latest two projects: “Decepción” and “All Oysters, No Pearls”

Luis Gispert was one of the artists who told us to open up a gallery space here in Palma de Mallorca. June 2011 we started up our gallery Mallorca Landings with a big Gispert solo where he showed large scale photos, sculptures and his latest film “Turbo Burbo”. To have a top 100 ranked artist in our roster, and whose career we’ve been following since beginning of 2000, is nothing but a true honor. As it’s likewise a pleasure it’s also a responsibility to present you all Gispert fans and collectors his latest ideas and works. We therefor have built up quite an extensive show for you based on recent works together with works from his last two U.S shows; Decepción(Mary Boone Gallery, NY) and All Oysters, No Pearls(OHWOW, LA).

Gispert’s work is inspired by a cultural amalgamation of music, cinema, urban/pop culture, car culture, and the lyrical theatrics of hip hop.

Luis Gispert was born in 1972 Jersey City, New Jersey. He has exhibited extensively throughout the United States, Europe, South America and the Middle East including MOCA North Miami, FL; Whitney Museum of or American Art at Altria, New York; PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; Studio Museum of Harlem, Royal Academy of Arts, London, UK; His work has also been included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial, New York, NY; Private collections include Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, MA; San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, CA; Solomon R.
